What area do they philanthropically support and why?
I support many areas, not just one in particular. The ones that I support more are the Concussion Awareness and Education Fund, Human Trafficking Fund, and Postpartum Depression Fund. I feel I am giving back in some way and I can make a difference to someone. Working in IT support, I cannot get out and volunteer as much as I would like so giving my support this way seems to be a better way for me.
What motivated them to start giving?
I have always wanted to give back some way. My parents were young adults in World War II and came to the U.S. in the mid-1950s.They instilled in my siblings and I when we were growing up to always give and help where we can.
Why do you think it’s important to be engaged through philanthropy as a Dignity Health employee?
Being engaged through philanthropy as a Dignity Health employee, you have more opportunities as part of a larger organization than as an individual. You can touch more people. It is all about making a difference in someone's life. A little can go a long way and any little that I can help will make the outcome better.
What’s your fondest memory of working at Dignity Health?
I have a few fond memories of working for Dignity Health. When someone is in need of anything, when they becomes ill, for example, co-workers come to together to help out with meals -- either home-cooked or a delivery service. There is very much compassion between your co-workers. I feel my co-workers are like my second family.
What’s one fun fact others might not know about you?
Outside of refereeing soccer in the spring and fall. I like to be outside as much as possible -- when not working and weather permitting. I camp at least twice in the summer, and in the winter I downhill ski. I also scrapbook and go to baseball games. My husband and I have quarter season tickets to see the Reno Aces which are affiliated with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
