What do you choose to support at Dignity Health through employee giving and why?

When I first started donating, I decided to contribute by means of a bi-weekly payroll deduction to Dignity Health Foundation where the funds are used to support the greatest needs within Dignity Health. After I became increasingly aware of the other areas that Dignity Health supports, I decided to add to my contributions and donate to both the St. Joseph’s and Barrow Neurological Foundations.

When did you start participating in employee giving at Dignity Health and what was it that motivated you to give?

When I started employment at Dignity Health, I was overwhelmed by the overall generosity of our employer. I first wanted to give as a means to support Dignity Health’s mission and role in supporting our local communities. By giving, I feel like I am doing my small part in supporting our core values.

What does gratitude mean to you? Does it play a role in why you give?

There are so many ways that I have felt gratitude and thankfulness during my eight years of employment at Dignity Health. I am particularly grateful for the high quality of care that my daughter received at Barrow Neurological Institute after suffering a brain and neck injury as a result of a cheer stunting accident. The team at Barrow wasn’t just a medical provider but they were a partner in my daughter’s long road to recovery. I truly believe that the care she received at Barrow is why she is fully functional today and is now an upper division nursing student at the University of Alabama.

What’s your fondest memory of working at Dignity Health?

Over the last eight years, I have had so many fond team memories of working at Dignity Health. One of my fondest though was when our department did a team building tour of the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. It was great to be on the field where my favorite PAC-12 football team, Arizona State, won the Championship in 1987!

What’s one fun fact others might not know about you?

Our family loves everything Disney!
