A message from our leadership

Greetings from CommonSpirit Health philanthropy! Since our alignment was made official in January, we have been working diligently to form our new ministry. You have likely already started to see changes as we welcome new colleagues into our larger philanthropic footprint, reorganize our teams, and think differently about how we communicate in order to maximize our scale and be on the leading edge of health care philanthropy.

As we continue to move through this next phase of our alignment, we want to ensure that a regular cadence of communication is available that provides transparency and opportunities for input from our philanthropy employees as well as the larger CommonSpirit Health leadership. Please watch your inboxes for these important messages. As we build new communications tools, we expect to sunset this version of Gratitude and we are excited to bring you something new in the future that highlights philanthropy’s impact.

I am pleased to report that our current fundraising trajectory as a combined ministry for FY19 is on track to meet our goal of $210 million by June 30. Through the month of April, CommonSpirit Health philanthropy has raised $166.8 million, with May and June being our traditionally busiest months of the year for receiving gifts.

When I pause to think about the work ahead, I’m reminded of a quote by Mahatma Gandhi, “The future depends on what you do today!” Each of us can continue to contribute, collaborate, be open to change, and bring the best of ourselves in the work to truly transform health care philanthropy in the United States and across the globe.

Sincerely,

Fred Najjar
