Bakersfield children’s emergency services improved through benefactor support

The Robert Grimm Family Foundation(August 2017) - The dedication of the Robert  A. Grimm Children’s Pavilion for Emergency Services was held in an opening celebration on March 30, 2017. Bakersfield Memorial Hospital President Jon Van Boening thanked Kari Anderson and the Robert Grimm Family Foundation for their vision and generosity, and announced that they have pledged an additional $1 million gift to the project, bringing their total commitment to $2.5 million.

Kari Anderson said that her family was happy to help build something to benefit the children of our community. She recalled that Bob Grimm loved children and that parents still tell her about how Bob made a difference in their children’s lives.

The Robert A. Grimm Children’s Pavilion includes separate waiting and triage areas exclusively for pediatric patients and five children’s treatment rooms. The space was designed to provide a comforting and child-friendly environment for our patients and their families. The children’s pavilion is a major step forward in the outstanding level of care that is provided within the Lauren Small Children’s Center.

“Thanks to the Robert Grimm Family Foundation and our other generous donors, we will now have the only dedicated children’s emergency department in the southern San Joaquin Valley,” noted Sue Benham, vice president of philanthropy. “We will always be grateful for your commitment to the children entrusted to our care.”
