Hearst Cancer Resource Center Endowment bolstered by anonymous benefactor

Hearst Cancer Resources Center Endowment bolstered by anonymous benefactor.(August 2017) - The French Hospital Medical Center Foundation received an anonymous gift of $300,000 at the “Share the Hope” event held on April 8, 2017 at the iconic Hearst Castle and Hearst Ranch. The gift supports the Hearst Cancer Resource Center Endowment.

Share the Hope is an annual charity event that supports the Hearst Cancer Resource Center (HCRC) at French Hospital Medical Center. More than 220 guests are treated to an evening that features a champagne reception on a hillside terrace at Hearst Castle, a gourmet dinner at the Hearst Ranch Dairy Barn, live music, as well as live and silent auctions.

The HCRC collaborates with community and physician partners to provide supportive and educational resources necessary for cancer patients to understand their disease, manage treatment, and maintain dignity and quality of life throughout all aspects of their cancer experience. All programs and services are offered at no charge.

The HCRC Endowment was established to provide crucial long-term financial support, ensuring that the center will continue to be an oasis for cancer patients and their families for years to come. A fully-funded endowment will allow all future cancer patients access to the same vital services that are available today.

This year, the Share the Hope event raised more than $1.2 million dollars. Proceeds supported the HCRC Endowment and a new cancer education fund.

The Hearst Family was instrumental in providing initial funding to open the HCRC in 2008 and the Hearst Foundation helped establish the HCRC Endowment.
