Barrow physicians offer support for new facility

Rendering of a new entrance at Barrow Neurological Institute.(August 2017) - The physicians at Barrow Brain and Spine recently gifted $1 million to Barrow Neurological Institute in support of the Spetzler Legacy Campaign. The campaign pays tribute to former Barrow President and CEO Robert Spetzler, MD, who championed the success of the institute for more than 30 years. A central component of Dr. Spetzler’s vision for Barrow’s future is the creation of an integrated, centralized space that brings together clinical research, neurology and neurosurgery, and the Spetzler Legacy Campaign will help make that vision a reality with a new state-of-the-art facility. The new building will improve staff collaboration and increase research space, leading to new breakthroughs and enhanced patient care.

The Barrow Brain and Spine practice encompasses 30 neurosurgeons and three physiatrists, and performs more than 8,000 surgeries each year. This globally-recognized group directs the Neurosurgery Residency Program at Barrow Neurological Institute and serves more than 21,000 patients per year. Their transformational gift supports Barrow’s commitment to improving patient care, as well as expanding research efforts and clinical trials, in an effort to become the world’s premier neuroscience institute.
