(August 2018) — Barrow Neurological Foundation and Barrow Neurological Institute at Dignity Health St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center  in Phoenix have received a transformational $25 million donation, the largest single gift in the organization's history, and the largest philanthropic gift ever to a neurosurgical/brain tumor center in the country, to seek a cure within the next decade for the deadliest form of brain cancer. The gift, from The Ben and Catherine Ivy Foundation, will be used to dramatically accelerate and intensify the testing of drugs on glioblastoma tumors in the newly formed Ivy Brain Tumor Center at Barrow Neurological Institute.

The center, led by Dr. Nader Sanai, whose work is the catalyst for this investment, operates the largest Phase 0 clinical trials program in the world. Barrow Neurological Foundation, led by its President, Katie Cobb, has pledged an additional $25 million for a total $50 million commitment to the Ivy Brain Tumor Center and will continue to shepherd this productive relationship with the Ivy Foundation.
