AHP 2018

Dignity Health has again been ranked among the top high-performing health care fundraisers in North America by the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP). This is the third year in a row that Dignity Health has been honored with this distinction.

AHP recently recognized 54 U.S. and Canadian development organizations, primarily foundations affiliated with nonprofit hospitals or health systems, as high-performing for fiscal year 2017 as part of its 2018 Report on Giving.

High performers are defined in the report as those organizations who represent the top 25 percent in net fundraising returns out of all responding institutions. This means they raised more than $12.4 million in the U.S. and more than $14 million in Canada and represented a median of $27.29 million in the U.S. and $19.61 million in Canada in net fundraising returns.

"We are thrilled to be amongst the top performing health care fundraisers," says Fred Najjar, senior vice president of philanthropy and system chief philanthropy officer of Dignity Health. "Our supporters and advocates in the communities we serve made this honor possible from everyone at Dignity Health, thank you for your commitment to our mission of providing high-quality, affordable health care to everyone."

AHP is a not-for-profit, international professional organization dedicated exclusively to development professionals who encourage charity in North America's health care organizations. It has 5,000 members representing more than 2,200 health care facilities.

"We are honored to recognize this group of remarkable organizations and their deep commitment to philanthropy," says Alice Ayres, president and CEO of AHP. “Their results are exemplary – they are delivering an average of $5.50 for every dollar invested in philanthropy, strengthening the relationship their organizations have with their community and safeguarding the future health of people across the U.S. and Canada.”

Dignity Health has 29 foundations across its service areas in Arizona, California, and Nevada that provide essential fundraising support to assist in realizing its mission of providing compassionate, patient-centered care delivered with human kindness.
